Disaster Management and Special Functions

Tamil Nadu House has a Disaster Management Wing which is activated during disasters. This Wing functions as a control room during disasters and acts as a key communication link between the Government of Tamil Nadu, Central Government, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and other State Governments. Tamil Nadu House also facilitates transportation of mortal remains of accident victims from Tamil Nadu.

Verification and Attestation Of Certificates

Verification of certificates, be it a transcript or original certificate is the first process prior to Embassy attestation to enable the person for getting visa for visiting abroad. The certificates issued by an Institute or University or legal entity are examined and verified by an authorised officer. Attestation of certificates for people living in Delhi is done by the office of Resident Commissioner after due verification.

Accommodation for Candidates

Candidates from Tamil Nadu who have cleared UPSC main examination and have come to attend interviews in New Delhi are accommodated in Tamil Nadu House at concessional rates for a maximum of 10 days. During UPSC interviews for Civil Services, a conducive eco system is provided by Tamil Nadu House to the candidates. Computers with internet facility, English and Tamil dailies free of cost and food with flexible timing are made available to the candidates.

The House of Tamil Culture was established in Tamil Nadu House in the year 1983 with the following objectives:

  • To run libraries containing books on Tamil culture both in English and Tamil.
  • To conduct Tamil cultural festivals.
  • Exhibitions to highlight the glory of Tamil culture and civilization.
  • To benefit the substantial Tamil population in Delhi and to promote Tamil language, literature and culture.

The Library contains about 6500 books in both Tamil and English on various topics. The details of books available in the library can be views online by clicking here.

House of Tamil culture is also conducting classes to teach Tamil language , Tamil music and Bharathanatyam for interested students. The classes are being conducted two days a week in Vaigai -Tamil Nadu House, Kautilya Marg, New Delhi.

Tamil Nadu House and Tamil University, Thanjavur jointly would conduct examination and certificate will be issued to the students who have completed the one year course.

       In this connection a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Tamil Nadu House and Tamil University, Thanjavur on 18.07.2018.
